Rachel – Week 4

Thirty students from Regency High School visited today – three classes with a range of learning, physical, and sensory disabilities, supported by a team of enthusiastic and caring staff.
Tried out a different approach to the start of the day – the dancers in costume were there to meet and greet the students off the minibuses and help them find their “seats for the performance”. It was all a little chaotic with people coming back from the loo but, at a point that seemed right, l started the soundtrack and we all moved easily into the performance.
The moment the dancers started performing, there was a palpable shift in the atmosphere: it became attentive and focused and it was as if everybody sat up and relaxed simultaneously.
I think there’s real benefit in exploring beginnings and ends of both performances and workshop sessions.
